Obey City Noticed A Drought Of Slow Jams And Fixed It

Over the last few years, Glasgow-based label LuckyMe has become famous for pushing extremely high-energy music by the likes of TNGHT, Rustie, and Baauer. That sound has really taken off, and since become sort of ubiquitous, so it's nice to hear a change of pace with this luxurious slow jam from NYC producer Obey City. It's called "Waterbed" and features vocals by Yonkers, NY-based vocalist Anthony Flammia. "Many of my all-time favorite R&B songs have been slow jams," Obey City explained to The FADER via email. "I think there's been a real void in recent years, especially on the radio where uptempo music tends to get the most play. The 'Waterbed' instrumental began as my tribute to everything I love about them, and Anthony really understood the vibe and took it to another level with his performance."
