Early next month, Bronx rap group B.I.C. will drop (RED), the long-stewing followup to their 2013 mixtape Influence. "The period of time we took to craft this project, was one of the most tumultuous we've ever faced," the crew tells FADER. "We had a lot to get off our chests, and a lot to guide people through the fog with." And we'd believe it, as the tape's first single, "STFU," is at once a warm bath of synth and a blustery warning to anybody who might be "filling the air with bullshit." Your telling me too much, they say.Yeah we make noise, but silence mean everything to us.
The timing of today's announcement is meaningful, as it marks the third anniversary of B.I.C.'s late fifth member, Jose 'Se Word' Henriquez' passing. "We dedicate this entire run to him and all of our fallen soldiers," they say. "RIP Se Word. RIP Slime, RIP Yams. RIP Dust La Rock." Amen. (RED) drops early March.
