Of all the films premiering at Sundance 2015, Fresh Dressed was one that we at FADER are very excited about seeing. In the vein of Jamel Shabazz: Street Photographer, Sacha Jenkins' film explores the DIY roots of hip hop culture, relying often on Shabazz's photographs as primary sources. Interviewees include Big Daddy Kane, Kid & Play, Dapper Dan, and a number of fashion editors and historians delving deeply into the motivations and precedents that led to, say, hip hop's ownership of the Kangol, or ironed-out shoe laces. There's no release date as of yet, but stay tuned.
