D'Angelo's first performance following the surprise release of Black Messiah will be held on Saturday, February 7 at the Apollo Theater in Harlem. This will be the enigmatic singer's first headlining gig at the New York institution, but don't be surprised if there is a hint of nostalgia in the air—so the legend goes, D'Angelo competed in the venue's "Amateur Night" when he was just 16 and used his winnings to purchase recording equipment.
