Young Brooklyn funk/jazz crew PHONY PPL have shared a warm, woozy, and truly lovely number, "Why iii Love The Moon," an ode to the ever-dependent moon as well as a song for jilted lovers. "The only thing ya boy can really be sure of is that the moon will be always there for ya boy. Every night. Like no human ever could," the crew tells FADER. So just be careful where you look for love, goes the hook.
The five-minute jam was born out of a summer jam session in a Brooklyn bedroom that was re-rigged to be a studio. "And we just started to play with no intentions of making a song, just jammin' on ideas, and the record button happened to be on," they say. PHONY PPL's album, Yesterday's Tomorrow, is out on next Tuesday, January 13; they also will be performing at SOBs in New York next week, get your tickets here.
