It isn't Christmas without Christmas songs. I have a special place in my heart for those half-winking odes to festive cheer—it's the only time of year when we actively celebrate the healing spirit of being tongue-in-cheek, and god knows we all need some of that. Happily, this year's dose comes in the form of "Pink Christmas," by long-time pals Cody Critcheloe of SSION, Seth Bogart of Hunx and his Punx, and Samantha Urbani of Friends. Critcheloe and Bogart wrote the track in LA this past summer, and invited Urbani to join them in the jubilations: the three will be known as SLINK forevermore.
"I love Christmas, but now it's cool cuz it's pink," Critcheloe told The FADER. "It's honestly kinda crazy that it took so long to get here. I mean, I always knew this would happen, but I don't think I realized that I would be such a huge part of changing the world. I guess I always felt it, but it's so simple really: If u mix red and white u get pink, which isn't even that gay. It's more like math, which is for losers." I keep dreaming of a pink Christmas/ Santa let your love snow down on me, goes the chorus. This will be stuck in your head for the rest of the day. "It's important to me that this song exists," Bogart told The FADER. "Gay people only have Mariah and WHAM and they aren't even real." Apparently, there's a limited edition Pink Christmas fragrance (!!!) on the way via VFILES, but you can cop the song right now. We'll leave the last word to Urbani: "Suck it, Santa."
