Jeremih Takes A Sly Dig At Def Jam On “Big Dawg Shit”
“If I woulda knew that they was deaf, NAH!”
Jeremih slips a sly dig at his label into "Big Dawg Shit," a new release that is otherwise a chest-thumping survey of his winnings (crib on Sunset, bank account fat so his son's set, bitches in his DM). When I signed to Def Jam, if I woulda knew that they was deaf, he raps, while his Windy City affiliate Chi Hoover bellows NAH!
This isn't the first time the Late Nights rapper has aired his frustration with the label. In a recent sit-down with Billboard, he attempted to explain the reasoning behind Late Nights: The Album's repeated delay. "My label is hesitating and not being by my side," Jeremih said, adding, "I see other artists and how they're supported. It's hard when I'm on a roster with Rihanna, Rick Ross, and Kanye West."
He shoulders much of the blame himself, too. "I'm not going to point my finger at somebody else," he said, admitting to a video shoot he skipped-out on and personal issues that left him "internally unbalanced." "I stopped caring about being Jeremih over the last few months."
Though he sounds down, he makes sure to promise that he's not out. "Over the next few months, if you don't hear about me, something's wrong," he assures. Or, as he says on "Big Dawg Shit," I ain't even havin' fun yet.
