Iggy Azalea, for the second time in as many months, was made the object of a middle-aged rapper's wrath when Eminem threatened to rape her in song. And for the second time in two months, she's fired back.
On a leaked snippet of a new SHADYXV song called "Vegas," the 42-year-old rapper takes a jab at Iggy's backside too far: Put that shit away, Iggy/ You don't wanna blow that rape whistle on me. As she did when Snoop Dogg seemingly couldn't stop himself from Instagram trolling, she fired off a short-but-sweet three-tweet defense that doubles as an astute assessment of what it's like to be a woman in music. Basically, she's disappointed but too busy getting money to waste even 140-more characters on an old man:
im bored of the old men threatening young women as entertainment trend and much more interested in the young women getting $ trend. zzzz

(It's worth noting, she also released a new song with Ellie Goulding today.)
Iggy's not the only woman in music who's standing up for other women in music this week—she's not even the only one standing up to Eminem this week. In an interview with The Daily Beast, Azealia Banks lashed back at Em for threatening to punch Lana Del Rey in another questionable lyric. "This is a dude who raps about killing his mother," Banks said. "I really don't care. I'm not trying to fuck Eminem, and I don't need anything from Eminem. Didn't he also have a song where a black girl broke his heart and he was calling her a 'nigger' and all that shit? OK, Eminem."
Another woman musician who's recently spoken up is Lorde. The 18-year-old superstar issued a withering insult in Diplo's direction after the oft outspoken DJ insulted her BFF Taylor Swift's backside. Like Iggy, Lorde told FADER that she was empowered to strike back because of her hard-earned place at the head of the table. "I've been notoriously quiet my whole life," she explained. "So it wasn't until I started to be able to run a board meeting and direct people in the way I wanted things to go that I gained confidence as a leader. As a businessperson, I got confident in saying, 'Hey, this is whack.'"
