Last month, Kesha filed a lawsuit against her longtime producer and mentor Lukas Gottwald, aka Dr. Luke, claiming that he had subjected her to nearly a decade of abuse. The mega-producer is now hoping to dismiss what is perhaps the most disturbing allegation included in her claim.
Billboard reports that attorneys for Gottwald filed a motion Monday seeking to have Kesha's claim that she was raped by her mentor dismissed. They note that Kesha denied that Gottwald made any sexual advances toward her in a 2011 deposition, and argue that the allegation should be thrown out of the case because it could not have occurred within the past two years and is therefore barred by the statute of limitations. Gottwald's team is also seeking to bar a gender violence claim within Kesha's suit; if dismissed, six other allegations including sexual harassment, civil harassment, and intentional infliction of emotional distress would remain in the case.
FADER has reached out to Kesha's attorney Mark Geragos, and is awaiting comment.
