Rich Gang, the supergroup of Young Thug, Rich Homie Quan, and Birdman, first began teasing a tour when they announced Tha Tour Pt. 1 in mid-September. The mixtape dropped two weeks later, along with dates for a 13-stop run through the Southeastern U.S. Today is November 13, and according to the original schedule, they should be performing at Louisville, Kentucky's Yum KFC! Center tonight—but anyone who shows up to the 22,000-seat arena will be welcomed by *crickets.* Is this tour even happening at all? Doesn't seem like it.
FADER called the arena to confirm that there are no events scheduled tonight, with the assurance that tickets would have been sold if a show was actually on the books. The Landers Center in Memphis, Tennessee, where Rich Gang had slated a November 15 show, has a Black Belt Championship and a minor league hockey match-up booked for that day. The Family Arena in St. Louis, Missouri, told us that they had never been contacted about the supposed November 16 Rich Gang show planned for the venue; however, they were aware that a show had been listed somewhere.
Granted, a couple of one-off dates do seem legit: tickets for a November 21 show at UNO Lakefront Arena in New Orleans are on sale now. Likewise, tickets for a January 18th show at the USF Sun Dome in Tampa go on sale Monday. Both venues have confirmed that, at least for now, those shows are scheduled to go on.
So what's up with this Rich Gang tour? In an email, Rich Gang representatives explained that no dates are definite until an album release is firmed up. We'll update this post as soon as those dates are locked in—because we, too, are eager to buy our tickets.
