Hundred Waters’ “Out Alee” Video Is Strangely Life-Affirming
Despite spiders and ouija boards, the Florida band’s clip is not in the least bit scary.
Despite the presence of ouija-like planchettes and creepy spiders, the new clip for "Out Alee" from Florida-based experimental pop outfit Hundred Waters is strangely life-affirming, and not at all scary. Directed by Michael Langan, the video is vaguely nautical and there's no obvious narrative, but it's definitely full of aesthetically striking shots: birds-eye views of the ocean, synchronized Thai dancers, the band looking stoic dressed in their Sunday best. It climaxes with the four-piece playing live in a seaside pasture at dusk. "We shot it right before we left home," vocalist Nicole Miglis says cryptically over email. "'Alee' means the side of the ship that is sheltered from the wind. I find myself there often." The band is currently on the road with Interpol; peep those dates below.
