Last night in Austin, we were on site at the opening Dell World Event for live performances from Duran Duran and Weezer. Extreme rain and flash flood warnings drove the outdoor concert into the Austin Convention Center, but the unfavorable weather did not stop concertgoers from a night of excellent live shows, delectable consumptions, and good company. Guests indulged appetites with bites from 12 food trucks including Coolhaus, East Side Kings, Hat Creek Burgers, and Stonys Pizza, dining upon indoor picnic tables and mock grass set up to preserve an outdoorsy vibe. The co-headliners played animated hour-long sets including classic hits like Weezer's "Say It Ain't So" and "Buddy Holly," and Duran Duran's "Ordinary World" and "The Wild Boys," all before a impressively immense projection screen set up behind the stage projecting cool band graphics. The set up was just as impressive as the live stream Dell provided for us at last month's FADER FORT.
