Swedish pop icon Neneh Cherry's "Spit Three Times", from her first solo album in 18 years, Blank Project, has already been remixed before by NYC beat-kid Lee Bannon—but where Bannon's take slowed the track's mid-tempo burn and added some dark textures, Teklife affiliate and footwork extraordinaire DJ Spinn has taken a different approach, speeding things up with typically frenetic flair while still keeping slivers of the tune's original melody intact. It pairs excellently with fellow Teklife guy TASO's recent, superb FADER Mix.
The remix is from a forthcoming double-disc reissue of Blank Project, which Pitchfork reports is out December 2 via Smalltown Supersound. The second disc will be loaded with remixes, including the previously released take on Cherry's Robyn collaboration "Out of the Black" from Hot Chip's Joe Goddard, Cooly G (who popped up around here last week as part of FADER's Beat Week), and the typically reliable pairing of Ricardo Villalobos and Max Loderbauer.
