Stream Hudson Mohawke’s CHIMES TAPE for the Diplo and Friends Radio Show
This hip-hop themed tape is pure HudMo: radiating colorful beats in size XL.
Anything by Hudson Mohawke, whether it's an original production or a mix like this hip hop “CHIMES TAPE” (named in honor of his just-released Chimes EP) for the Diplo and Friends show on BBC Radio 1, has an immediately identifiable combination of brightness and sonic architecture. The brightness is that radiating, pristine burst of color that constantly gushes forth from the beats, and the architecture is the serial design of everything in size XL, somehow managed so that the presentation is clutter-less, each huge section given enough room to stand out on its own. The third and most important aspect of Hudson Mohawke's work is that he only makes/plays bangers, and this mix is no exception. Diplo sums it up pretty well in his introduction: “[He's a] crazy lunatic in the beat game.” While you're giving the mix a spin, have another look at our Beat Construction feature on the producer.
