For his second collection with the storied house, Jeremy Scott has continued to amplify and oversaturate the Moschino name, to wonderful effect. Where his last collection went hard with a bright fast food aesthetic and Mickey D's color palette, his show in Milan today was a human-size, full-functional Barbie dream closet. Pink suited separates with silver accents were followed by explosions of chiffon and oversized sequins, in a highly attuned, couture take on doll clothing craftmanship. The show landed all across the spectrum: giving us poolside Barbie, travel Barbie, Lil' Kim Barbie, even gilded Jackie O. Barbie. The models were kitted out in cascading fluffy blonde wigs and oversized lacquered chainlink jewelry, parading the catwalk in a dizzying whirl of hairspray, metallic accessories and 50s beach styling. The pieces, while unmistakably obvious in their inspiration, played as descendent of the decadent, perfumed, Dynasty days of Christian Lacroix. Costumed decadance that doesn't sacrifice concept, quality, or its sense of humor. Check the full collection, here.
