Warm Up Recommends: Evian Christ on the Special Guest
The high-octane UK producer tells us why the secret guest at this week’s Warm Up finale has got him all fired up.
Every Saturday throughout New York's long hot summer, MoMA PS1 presents Warm Up, the museum's annual courtyard party that celebrates music's experimental spirit. Each week, The FADER will be speaking to one of the billed artists to find out who they're psyched about playing with. This week, as the series draws to a close, high-octane UK producer Evian Christ tells us why the secret special guest at Saturday's Warm Up finale has got him all fired up.
Evian Christ: "This is an interesting one. The beauty of the 'unannounced headliner' format is that it allows for the opportunity to build a crowd towards something that they didn't really sign up for. The Warm Up series tends to be programmed quite eclectically, so the special guest may not represent a traditionally 'logical' conclusion to a show that involves myself, Lone and Sophie. We're all from the UK, where this act is a pretty divisive figure, so it's going to be an interesting clash of styles. To be honest, I can't wait—I'll be raving either way so I don't really give a fuck. It's all theater really, but there's an element of risk at play here and it will be interesting to see how things play out on the night."
