Take a Trip with Steve Gunn’s “Way Out Weather” Video
Watch a shaky, striking clip for the title track off the expert guitarist’s new LP.
The official clip for "Way Out Weather"—the intricate, warm title track from New York guitarist Steve Gunn's new record—filters a lot of the pastoral imagery that I tend to associate with Gunn's music through a wholly unique lens. The clip, which premiered over at Stereogum this morning, features shaky footage shot by its director, KT Auleta, while on a motorcycle trip through Mongolia in 2007. I've somewhat recently become a fan of the "video collage" as a means of cataloguing a trip, basically memorializing the experience through a series of short, cobbled-together video clips instead of taking hundreds of digital photographs that only live inside your phone. This Steve Gunn video succeeds in doing what any good vacation video collage should do: it makes me wish, really badly, that I had been there.
