R.I.P. Nicky Da B, Rising New Orleans Bounce Star
The 24-years-young New Orleans bounce star Nicky Da B, best known for “Express Yourself,” has passed away “after a brief illness.”
Some sad news tonight: 24-years-young New Orleans bounce star Nicky Da B has passed away "after a brief illness," the Times-Picayune reports. The still-rising star, whose real name: Nickesse Toney, was best known for his fiery guest spot on Diplo's "Express Yourself" (watch above), as well as his regional hit "Hot Potato Style", off Don't Forget About Da B.
His management confirmed the news with a statement: "It is with heaviness in our hearts today that we confirm the passing of Nicky Da B. Nicky was a beautiful soul and we are grateful for his magnetic personality and loving spirit. We were inspired by his talent as much as his tireless optimism and humility. Our condolences go out to his family at this time."
Friends and collaborators Diplo and Big Freedia have also chimed in on Twitter:
