Watch a Drone Shot Video of London Band Real Lies’ New Single “Dab Housing”
The London band hang out on a scruffy rooftop and contemplate life, sort of.
Real Lies make me feel stuff. The London trio tap into a very specific aspect of UK identity: the suspension between dreariness and hopefulness. Throughout a life that in-betweenness manifests in hanging around—in youth clubs, on streets, in pubs, in gardens, and in living rooms circling the telly. In the video for their new single "Dab Housing," shot partially by drone camera, Real Lies summon up that feeling with ease, drinking cans, smoking cigarettes and having a laugh on a East London rooftop. The clarity has gone for me / No sense of mission too, sings the band's Kev Kharas and, against the grey skies and tired brickwork, it's not too much of a stretch to read it as a ballad to this blurry, everlasting present. "Dab Housing" and "North Circular" are out today as a double A-sided single on Marathon Artists.
