Everyone with a pulse, a Twitter login and a hearty stash of melanin has been glued to news coming out of Ferguson, MO and rallying against police brutality. But Atlanta duo FatKidsBrotha has been down for the cause. "187" was one of my favorite rap songs of 2012, an icy diatribe on fucked up cops that played like the Cool Kids covering Public Enemy, with an Uncle Leff-directed video that was just as tough. Today they've got more to say: "Riot" strings together chaotic snippets of protestor testimonials on either side of chilling calls to arms: It's a lot of murders that go unheard of, what's the verdict? If 'not guilty,' we bout to turn up. Let's hope this time next year, there's less source material for them to draw from.
