LiL JaBBA’s GuLLY EP Revels in Nostalgia and Fantasy
LiL JaBBa’s new EP evokes some potent tech memories.

The last time we heard from LiL JaBBA, the Brooklyn-based, footwork-zoned producer with a penchant for uppercase mangling that recalls Xanga, he talked about wanting to get a yeti rapping over his single. His new GuLLY EP, forthcoming on True Panther Sounds, seems to be similarly rooted in fantasized imagery. It could, and very well might be, the soundtrack to a stoned twenty something in 2014 marveling at ROM-era graphics of an early 90’s first-person video game. The tunes themselves are mid-range heavy and grey-scale opaque, coming together as a sophisticated release.
