ILoveMakonnen Put In Work This Weekend While You Were Going Up
Atlanta rising star ILoveMakonnen clocked in three new collabs this weekend.
ILoveMakonnen dropped a loudpack of new tracks over the past three days, the best of which is probably “Vodka on the Weekend” and the least best of which is probably “H.O.M.E.” “Doubted” lands somewhere in the middle—he’s earned the right to spit spite on a “back then they didn’t want me” anthem, but our favorite Makonnen is the bright-eyed, smiling and goofily positive hookman we meet on “Vodka.” Sandwiched between fun enough verses from Awful Records' Pyramid Quince, Rich Po Slim and Archibald Slim, Makonnen ice skates over a frigid Father beat: Sydney out here geekin’ like Urkle, I don’t give a damn about a circle, he spits, which may be his truest bar yet. Don’t miss a very rare cameo from one certain FADER editor, and look out for our next issue to read all about it.
