Dream of the Colourful British Seaside with Electronic Pop Duo Eckoclick’s Debut Video
Watch the nostalgic debut video for “Dream In Colour” from British duo Eckoclick.
That white-flecked, greyish expanse at the beginning of the debut video from London-based electronic pop duo Eckoclick is about as blue as the sky ever got on childhood holidays to the British seaside. For me, those memories are a kaleidoscope of the neon flashes of arcade machines, the faded rickety glamour of faux-Victorian fairground rides and half-full mugs of tea: and that’s exactly what you get in the video for "Dream In Colour," all sewn up in the form of one of the warmest and catchiest electronic pop tunes to surface in London this year. Eckoclick are a duo made up of punk-pop vocalist and one-time Nigel Godrich collaborator Femme and producer/multi-instrumentalist Crewdson, and they’re releasing their debut EP on outsider UK label Sonic Router - but the track above is something completely different for all involved. Made entirely from lush layers of found sound, an addictive bassline and Femme’s devil-may-care vocal, it’s all the fun of a rain-drizzled trip to the seaside combined with all the fondly nostalgic #TBT vibes of a polaroid picture of said trip. Basically: something a little bit familiar and yet a little bit magic.
