With every fashion week, it seems as though the line between performance art and runway show grows ever thinner. Opening Ceremony, whose last presentation featured a wall entirely composed of melted chocolate, now says they're shifting from the theatrical to the actual theater. Humberto Leon and Carol Lim have announced that for their SS '15 presentation (or, rather, performance), they'll be forsaking a runway show altogether, instead staging a one act play co-written by Jonah Hill and Spike Jonze. With an increasing number of critics speaking out against the current Mercedes Benz model in recent years, such a straightforward rejection of the traditional catwalk isn't a total surprise, but it's pleasing nonetheless. With Tavi Gevinson's Broadway debut coming this month, the worlds of theater and fashion are orbiting each other ever more closely, and nothing but good can come of it.
