In an exclusive story with Style.com, Shayne Oliver, fashion world wunderkind and creative director of Hood By Air, unveiled his pre-spring collection and shared plans for the future of the fashion house he's established. In his effort to sustain the transition from underground brand to bankable business, Oliver will splinter the label into three distinct lines: T-shirts and printed pieces will go under the name HBA, cut and sew items will bear the name Hood By Air, and more conceptual items will be intimately presented in Paris under an as-yet unnamed division. In the vaguely distant future, an HBA brick and mortar store will materialize (the interview took place in the unfinished retail space), and the brand's footwear line—known for their chunky lug soles and intricate detailing—will continue to be made in collaboration with the Italian shoe company, Forfex. The brand's growth spurt is undoubtedly due to the financial gains of Oliver's runner-up place in the first ever LVMH New Designer Prize and the steady momentum of recent CFDA nominations.
