FADER PREMIERE
September will mark three years since Drive’s Ryan Gosling and Carey Mulligan sped through the sun-dappled Los Angeles River in a 1973 Chevy Malibu up against the beat-heavy synthesizers and silk vocals of “A Real Hero,” the soundtrack-defining collaboration between Toronto duo Electric Youth and Parisian producer College. Composed of middle-school sweethearts Austin Garrick and Bronwyn Griffin, Electric Youth followed that song's success with the pulsing track “The Best Thing,” then the equally cinematic “Innocence,” for which the official video aptly featured pretty camera pans through a glimmering cityscape. Garrick and Griffin have just announced news that their first full length, Innerworld will be out September 30th via Indiana-based label Secretly Canadian. Today you can hear “Runaway,” the second track off the album; it's awash in eighties nostalgia and synthetic listlessness and the single's cover art—embedded above—was inspired by Polish movie posters from the 1970s. Listen to “Runaway” and watch the now-classic clip from Drive below.
