Watch Cosmic Cowboy Sturgill Simpson Play “Life of Sin” on Letterman

The country singer and GEN F alum stops by The Late Show.

In a recent issue of The FADER, we ran a GEN F profile about Kentucky-bred country singer Sturgill Simpson. Last night, the "cosmic cowboy of the digital age" stopped by The Late Show with David Letterman to perform "Life of Sin," a track about self-medicating with weed and booze that's actually a lot more of a downer, lyrically, than the rowdy, rollicking vibe of the performance suggests. Simpson sounds great, though. Afterwards, Letterman says that it's the type of song that makes you want to pick a super-sized bottle of Mountain Dew, hop in a car and just drive somewhere; the comment doesn't make a lot of sense but I'm pretty sure I agree with him. The track is off Simpson's new-ish album, Metamodern Sounds In Country Music, available over at his Bandcamp page right now.
