Public School Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop, Wins US Woolmark Menswear Prize

Public School is the first menswear brand to snag the US Woolmark Prize

July 15, 2014

There is no doubt that Public School is straight up sweeping the fashion awards scene this year. The industry darlings are on a veritable tear, having secured the CFDA Menswear Designer Award of the Year, the 2013 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Award, and the 2013 CFDA Swarovski Awards for menswear. Now we can add the US Woolmark Prize, an award celebrating labels showcasing the versatility of wool via technical innovation, to that list. For their next level leather-and-wool look, Dao-Yi Chow and Maxwell Osborne (Marcia Patmos of M. Patmos snagged the women’s wear title) took home almost 50k, the chance to compete against other regional menswear winners for the top prize in London in January, and the distinction of being the first menswear brand to take home the US title. Surviving the scrutiny of judges like Alexander Wang, CFDA CEO Steven Kolb, and W Editor in Chief Stefano Tonchi bodes well for the young brand, who are showing no signs of slowing down. If you don't know, check our intro to them as part of our Ones to Watch from F/W '14.
