June is here, which means a celebration of two very important things: gay rights (via worldwide Pride) and ice cream. British frozen yogurt brand Snog, is celebrating both at the same time with their #FirstSnog iPhone app. Designed by FADER favorite Cassette Playa, the app lets users customize their own ice cream themed selfies. And it’s in the name of a good cause—by sharing their photos, users can campaign for the Stonewall Foundation, which receives a donation of roughly $5 when you text “SNOG” to 70300.
Founded 20 years after the historic New York riots, the British Stonewall Foundation is the largest advocate for LGBT rights in Europe. Their recent work includes lobbying to repeal the British ban on gays in the military, working to legalize gay adoption and campaigning widely for equal marital rights. Gay rights are clearly still of pivotal importance in the UK and celebrities including FADER's current cover boy Sam Smith, Rita Ora, Boy George, Florence Welch and Harry Styles have all shown their support for the #FirstSnog campaign. iPhone users can download the app here. European numbers can text "SNOG" to 70300 to make a contribution; as of now there's no US number to text, but you can still contribute by donating online.
