In our current Photo Issue, we sent intrepid photographer Matthew Monteith to document a rapidly changing post-Bloomberg New York City. He came back with photos from four neighborhoods in transitional phases, including Hunts Point, Willets Points, Bed-Stuy and the Upper West Side. In a weird and dark way, Now It's A Fucking Froyo Place captures a similar evolution by collecting photos of independent businesses that have been replaced by glossy frozen yogurt parlors. We're the first ones to dump a handful of gummy bears on birthday cake soft serve, but just how many 16 Handles outposts does the city need? The Froyo-ization of New York is painfully real.
