After a landmark 2013 in the wake of Young Thug's "Stoner," Dun Deal's become Atlanta's producer of the moment. But the first time I fell head over heels for his work was on Rome Fortune's Beautiful Pimp. His hypnotic production on tape highlight "Get The Guap" was delicate but powerful, like watching Bob Ross gently flick his paintbrush and suddenly there's a tree. The two have an easy chemistry—Fortune's equally proficient in the art of subtlety—and today they share Drive, Thighs & Lies, a six-track collaborative EP. It's full of understated little touches—"Come & Get It" might be the world's most tasteful interpretation of dubstep wobbles, and "Waterfall" ripples like a far gentler body of water—but it's playful, too. DT&L features guest verses from Young Thug, Peewee Longway, and Junglepussy; don't miss Thug's demented reinterpretation of "I Believe I Can Fly" on "Smokin' Aladdin."
