If you're a casual fan of Lana Del Rey like me, you've probably come to associate her with grand, heartbroken, string-laden statements like The Great Gatsby anthem "Young and Beautiful" or, in an even longer and more hyperbolic vein, the 27-minute, 3-part music film called Tropico she released last December (read Duncan Cooper's commentary here). Amid speculations as to the official release date of her upcoming second album, Ultraviolence, however, someone just leaked this strangely disco-inflected new tune called "Meet Me In the Pale Moonlight," presumably a track from the Ultraviolence sessions that never made it onto the final tracklist. It's got a much more lighter step to it than your typical Lana fair, but enough references to Dairy Queens and drive-in movie theaters to give you that eerily familiar, smalltown American love story feeling.
