Watching Matti Baybee—Chief Keef's little cousin, whose boppy, steel drum-heavy Young Legend tape was an underrated gem of 2013—grow up over the past couple years has been a total trip. A year and a half ago, girls were coming to his parents house to hang out with him in the "Shopping Spree" video; now, he's a swaggy 16-year-old counting his money in his new video for "Mula," not to mention finally driving. His sound is decidedly more grown-up here too, with a minimalist beat that's somewhere between mid-'00s snap music and Sevyn Streeter's glossy "It Won't Stop." Matti's sophomore tape, Young Legend 2, is expected April 1st.
