For this installment of Sprite and The FADER's Obey You Collective: South Africa series, we're exploring the life and art of Gasak, a fiercely determined South African street artist from the KwaZulu-Natal province. Yesterday, we premiered a short documentary about him that showcased the crisp, vibrant graffiti aesthetic that he's been honing for nearly a decade. In this second and final Gasak video, we get to see the 23-year-old in action as he works on some original artwork, created especially for the Obey You Collective: South Africa series. One piece features two professional basketball players competing against one another with a squatter camp illustrated in the background. "You’ve got to have a dream and you’ve got to try to accomplish it with what you have," Gasak explained — articulately —when we spoke about the mural. "Even if you come from the dirtiest place on Earth, you can still be good at something." Watch the full clip now; it's soundtracked by Dirty Paraffin's remix of the Motèl Mari track "According To Who."
