FADER PREMIERE
"M.I.A. (Move It Along)," the latest from Chicago R&B weirdos and current GEN F stars JODY evokes DeVante Swing trying to maintain his composure while submerged in icy waters. That's not far off from the five-piece group's typical fare—an earnest reverence for classic R&B groups that avoids nostalgia by making everything a little fucked up, thanks in part to production from members of duo The-Drum, whose beats thrust the vocals into the echoing ice chamber from Tweet's "Oops (Oh My)" video. The hook of "M.I.A." rattles around in its cage in a treacly falsetto, echoing against the empty space as turn their backs on their respective lady friends.
