FADER PREMIERE
Blake Mills, the criminally slept-on California singer/songwriter and session guitarist whose 2014 sophomore album is easily my most-anticipated, sort of misread the prompt for his contribution to Sweetheart, a new compilation billed as "Our favorite artists play their favorite love songs." Mills picked just about the heartbrokenest love song around, Bobby Charles' 1964 "I Hope." Longing for better times, he sings, Sometime, somewhere/ We're gonna meet again, I know/ And I won't love you anymore/ I hope. Give it a cry below, then regain your composure with Vampire Weekend's cheerier offering, a rendition of Andrea Bocelli's "Con Te Partirò." The album comes out February 4th via Hear Music/Concord Music Group, available digitally and in Starbucks stores.
