FADER PREMIERE
Here's MBMGC 2, the new tape from P-Lo, deputy of the East Bay's HBK Gang, producer for Yo Gotti and Wiz Khalifa and the rap game's unrivaled best wearer of a rattail. I especially enjoyed its left-field middle section, where a glow-stick goof-off "Live It Up" bleeds into "Be Down," a squelchy, sweet interpolation of 50 Cent's "21 Questions.” Through and through, this whole thing's just an unforced joy, packed with nods to Bay heroes Too $hort and Mac Dre, hopeful slang innovations and friends—HBK's Iamsu!, Kool John, Jay Ant, Dave Steezy, Skipper and P-Lo's IRL big brother, Kuya Beats. Below, download the tape and watch the brand-new video for its single "Going To Work," in which P-Lo bernies in a pink puffer.
