According to Rolling Stone, Lou Reed, founding member of the Velvet Underground, Andy Warhol collaborator and prolific solo artist, passed away today at the age of 71. The cause of his death has yet to be revealed, though the avant-garde rock legend reportedly underwent a liver transplant this May. Reed leaves behind his wife, Laurie Anderson, and a discography full of unforgettable melodies, biting social commentary, and beguiling decadence, including classic solo albums Transformer and Berlin. In other news, it's pretty much a perfect fall day in New York City. Here's to you, Lou.
