The Thing is the Scandinavian trio of Mats Gustafsson, Ingebrigt Håker Flaten and Paal Nilssen-Love. They shred. Their last album was a collaboration with Neneh Cherry. Now they're back as a tight unit, with BOOT!. "India," their cover of John Coltrane's gorgeous piece from Impressions, swings pretty heavily with some raw sax and some incredibly excitable drums.
