When actress Karen Black died last month from cancer, there were a few especially bright moments from her career that we turned to for solace—her performances are so alive in 1970s films like Five Easy Pieces and Nashville that it's hard, even, to imagine her gone. Another more recent moment was a really lovely song, "Dreams Come True Girl," that she lent her husky voice and charisma to quite unexpectedly for Cass McCombs back in 2009. Today, we get a new track that they did together, "Brighter!" from his new album Big Wheel and Others, coming out next month. Nice to have her back again, if only for a song.
