FADER NYFW, Spring 2014
Every week, a different FADER editor compiles a playlist to highlight a new release and give you a guide to that artist’s web of influences and peers. This week, as part of our Designer Playlist series, we celebrate New York Fashion Week with a special jams from menswear label Public School.
While working together at Diddy's denim empire, Sean Jean, designers Dao-Yi Chow and Maxwell Osborne bonded over their native NYC upbringing and time in the city's public school system. In 2008, the duo founded their own menswear line, Public School. The streetwear-informed line, which is now solely manufactured in the New York City Garment district, deals in ankle grazing trousers, moto-inspired leathers and unconventional suiting. Public School received a critical stamp of approval when they were inducted into the CFDA Incubator Program in 2010, and went on to win the Swarovski Best New Menswear Award in 2013. Chow and Osborne, due to present their first collection under their new title this weekend, have shared the tracks that they're listening to as they prepare this much anticipated new line.
