All of Weed's album Deserve is filled with sludgy anthems like "Silent Partner," but this is the one I come back to the most. It manages to capture those apathetic dog days of summer when it feels too hot to feel anything except a sort of prickly uneasiness that rises from months of willful boredom. "Silent Partner" is, at heart, a simple song—but there's layers to pull back here, vocals buried under a swirl of guitar, moments of tense chugging, and somehow, in all of that, there's some serenity. Deserve is out September 10th on Couple Skate.
