FADER PREMIERE:
In case you've never heard of Cassette Store Day, it's real, and it's happening for the first time ever on September 7th. To celebrate, Graveface Records & Curiosities is releasing a cassingle from The Casket Girls, the Savannah, Georgia trio of sisters Elsa and Phaedra Greene and Black Moth Super Rainbow guitarist Ryan Graveface. Apparently, they met when Graveface was scoping out the town as a future place to live and stumbled upon the Greenes playing autoharp and singing strangely formed diddies in one of the city's public squares. "Holding You Back," one of two tracks on the limited tape release, follows from the group's 2013 debut album, Sleepwalking, and sounds a lot poppier and more robustly produced than these outsidery origins may suggest. Still, it's got a subtle creepiness to it, seemingly tied to the ethereal, double-female vocals, like an extremely happy song that you might hear over the closing credits of a horror movie.
