Robbie Basho isn't even remotely new, but he was recently brought back into the conversation by How To Dress Well's cover of "Blue Crystal Fire". Now Gnome Life Records has put together a nice reissue his essential 1978 LP Visions of the Country, an album that pre-dated a whole swath of highly idiosyncratic folk music with its intimate emotional resonance and plain honesty. If you're familiar with this song, great! If you've got this record, you're probably not even bothering to read this, but those of us that have been jamming YouTube rips and MP3 bootlegs can finally own it for a reasonable price. The Visions of the Country reissue is out August 20th, just in time for your late summer back porch hang sessions and/or moments staring into empty space and pondering the hugeness of the world.
