The world is never not ending, people are never not paranoid, tomorrow could always be the last day on earth. You could read this post at any point between now and when that actually happens and this statement would still apply. Doomsaying is an important, sometimes hilarious, sometimes scary part of human nature and Ellery James Roberts, former frontman of Wu Lyf—a band that flamed out after just one spectacular album of warm-hearted apocalyptic acceptance—understands that better than most. "Kerou's Lament" is a song made under his own name, but it occupies that same larger-than-our-everyday-lives scale, with Roberts' voice ascending to Bruce Springsteen-levels of hoarse inspiration. It's an anthem for a time where feeling that the end of the world could actually happen doesn't seem so out there, also known as every day ever in the history of time from now until infinity.
