Dan Svizeny's Cough Cool project sneaks up on you. The songs take on a congealed, half-awake quality that'd be easy to write off as nostalgia, but what Svizeny has done is create an album that grapples with life without hurrying through it. From the plaintive, whispered vocals of "Disclosure," to the driving-while-squinting-at-the-sun-through-a-cracked-windshield beauty of "Misfits 4x4," 29 is personal in sound, but much wider in scope. Grab the album June 11th on Bathetic.
