Diplowatch 2013 #3: Diplo Signs Publishing Deal with Dr. Luke

April 22, 2013

Diplo, budding movie executive, has signed a joint publishing deal with Dr. Luke, the guy behind mega-hits from Kelly Clarkson, Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus and Ke$ha. The two, who've flirted via retweet for the past year, will form a sort of mega-powered dispensary of songs that would sound good in Spring Breakers, Billboard reports. Together they'll oversee a roster of artists from their respective companies—Diplo's Mad Decent Publishing and Luke's Prescription Songs—that includes Benny Blanco (Rihanna, "Diamonds"), Bonnie McKee, DJA and Lunice, the half of the duo TNGHT whose song "Higher Ground" recently scored an Adidas campaign. "I am a huge fan of Diplo and Mad Decent and the music they are putting out. I look forward to our teams collaborating and making music together," Dr. Luke said in a statement, suggesting that in addition to licensing their songs as a team, the camps will also collaborate on new tracks. Diplo and Blanco worked together last year, co-producing Mike Posner's "Tapadaworld," a track reportedly set to feature Big Sean on Posner's upcoming album. Hear that and watch Blanco's episode of FADER TV's Studio Time series, below.
