Anika's self-titled debut album was a thick collection of unsettling dub, her voice draped strong and flat over blunt bass and endlessly echoed guitars. It was a strangely personal listen even as she often sounded distant and disaffected. "Love Buzz" is a Shocking Blue remake from a new EP of covers that kicks off with "I Go To Sleep," an excellent take on The Kinks' affecting classic. It's easy to be generally skeptical of covers; Why listen to a new version when the original is great as is? But Anika draws each song so deeply into her world that they become her own.
