Olympia, Washington's Milk Music have been put into plenty of categories. The last time I wrote about them, I invoked Dinosaur Jr. as a way of describing the emotional slacker rock that lurks at their core, but "Cruising With God," if you couldn't tell by the title, is more of a road burner. There's no stasis at all, just constant forward movement, with singer Alex Coxen using his voice as a ragged accompaniment to goopy guitar solos and a general vibe of sweltering heaviness. It's only two-and-a-half minutes, but it'd be even better at ten. Appropriately, Milk Music are on tour in support of their upcoming album Cruise Your Illusion, which is out April 2nd on Fat Possum.
