We're playing catch-up with this one a little bit, but suspect we're not the only ones: French-singing Quebecois Peter Peter’s sophomore album Une version améliorée de la tristesse (translated to An Improved Version of Sadness) already won iTunes Canada's Francophone Album of 2012. Though at times the saxes and guitars get a bit snoozy, their pop-rock a little too accessible, Peter Peter at his best evokes the soft pop of Air and M83, rolling his Rs through the mesmerizing chorus of the album's title track, on the stripped-down, acoustic strummer "Rien ne se perd, rien ne se crée," and on the funky closer. The album is out now via Audiogram, the Montreal label forever immortalized for releasing my favorite song of all time, and Peter Peter will be at SXSW this year for a few dates, listed below the album stream and video for "Une version."
